TERA Interactive Yoga Mat Relies on LEDs to Guide You
If you’re into yoga and/or meditation, you certainly know how important is the mat you sit on while doing these. Being comfortable helps you focus exclusively on the things that matter, so that you don’t get distracted.
The TERA interactive yoga mat ensures your comfort, and more. This piece of fitness equipment resembles the Twister social game in that it provides visual elements that help you figure out the next move. It definitely feels like TERA was created especially for your living room.
Roman Gebhard, co-founder of Lunar Europe, revealed that “For us it has been really important creating a product that truly feels ‘home’ and non-technical, almost as an precious piece of furniture, textile or carpet.”
Gebhard added that “We felt that we wanted to create a truly immersive experience where the user directly in direct touch with the product and not just staring at a screen in the room. To me the Twister game does have that great immersive and direct experience that pulls you right into the game in a very physical way.”
As mentioned before, TERA is more than just an interactive piece of fitness equipment. When not used for physical exercise, it looks like a regular rug. However, the Kvadrat wool makes it feel anything but regular.
The intelligent surface of this interactive mat is able to recognize movement patterns, and with the help of an iPad app, you get the visual feedback that you need. This way, you know at all times if the poses are done correctly.
Luckily, the TERA fitness mat can be used for much more than just yoga. As seen in the above picture, TERA can be used for capoeira (a trending word these days, mostly because of the World Cup ’14 that takes place in Brazil), Thai Bo, stretching, Pilates, Zumba and more. Basically, as long as you’re not performing something that can’t be done on the surface of this mat, you’re free to do a wide range of physical exercises.
Unfortunately, TERA is merely a concept now, so it might never hit the market. If it ever will be available, we sure hope it will be affordable, so that many people can enjoy using one in their living room.
