Disney Princesses – What Should Have They Really Wore?
We all know who the Disney princesses are. They are all so beautiful and I’m pretty sure we all remember how they look like. The princesses’ dresses are a large part of who they are. But just how correct are those period fashionable dresses? The talented illustrator Claire Hummel, reinterpreted Disney princess outfits through a more historically accurate lens. Take a look on the more accurate looks of the famous princesses.
In most cases, Disney did justice with the princesses and their wardrobe but in some cases the reality is quite different than the fairytale.
Snow-White
Snow white’s dress is based on early 16th century Germany.
Belle (Beauty and the beast)
Belle’s dress is based on the late 18th century, France.
Jasmine (Aladdin)
Jasmine’s outfit is based on rare drawings of pre-Islamic Middle Eastern fashion.
Cinderella
Cinderella’s dress is based on the Mid 1860′.
Pocahontas
Pocahontas’ look is based on 17th century Powhatan costume.
Aurora (The sleeping Beauty)
Aurora’s dress is based on the year 1485.
Tiana (Princess and the frog)
Tiana’s dress is based on the 1920′.
